This nonprofit organization is dedicated to raising cancer awareness, funds for cures, and supporting our community’s patients, caregivers, and survivors.
The American Cancer Society at UCD is dedicated to raising awareness about cancer prevention and screening among students while also fundraising for patient-support programs led by the national organization. We work with the UCD Comprehensive Cancer Center to host Giftsgiving events for cancer patients, hold general meetings every month focused on different types of cancer, and work diligently throughout the year to organize our biggest fundraiser Relay for Life. This 12-hour peer-to-peer fundraiser is held on Russell Field in spring quarter and features a day of games, fundraising competitions, performances, and speakers such as oncologists and cancer survivors. Our event culminates in our beautiful luminaria ceremony, where we honor those who have passed away from cancer. Through these efforts, we aim to unite our community and inspire hope for a cancer-free world.
Annual 12-hour Relay for Life event which brings together students and community groups to fundraise for patient support programs led by the national ACS organization. This event occurs every spring quarter and features performances, fundraising challenges, presentations by oncologists and survivors, and much more!
Quarterly Giftsgiving Event at the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center where our Event Leadership Team (ELT) talks to cancer patients and caregivers and distributes gifts and handwritten cards.
Club socials including boba study sessions, bowling at the MU, and lunches in downtown Davis.
Gain experience in organizing a large event called Relay for Life, which allows leaders to take initiative and organize specific fundraisers and activities to engage the community in taking a stand against cancer.
Make a difference in the lives of cancer patients through fundraising, advocacy, and awareness.
Form connections to other students, staff, community members, caregivers, and survivors who have also been impacted by cancer and work toward alleviating the impacts of cancer in our community.
Our club has three levels of engagement, which are general membership, committee membership, and Event Leadership Team (ELT) membership. We open ELT applications every fall and spring quarter, and our committee applications are open all year! The first step to becoming involved and understanding the differences in commitment for the 3 types of engagement is to join our Discord. This is where you can get updates on monthly general meetings, applications, upcoming events, and more!
